NEI has been conferred the First Prize for conducting the maximum number of Comprehensive Community Eye Care Services Camps in the State of Uttarakhand for the year 2018-19.

The award was received by Dr. Asif Khan, Medical Superintendent, NEI at the 1^st Annual Meeting of the Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India (ACOIN), organized at Hotel Pacific, Dehradun on Sunday, 28/07/2019.

NEI, which is driven by its Mission to Transforming Patients’ lives by providing Best Eye Care Services, conducted a total of 107 Community Eye Care Camps in the year 2018-19. Under these Camps, a total of 26,244 patients were screened from which 8,129 patients underwent surgery at the Hospital.

The NEI Management dedicates this Award to the committed team of doctors and staff at the Hospital.

An eye screening camp was organized by NEI at the junior campus of Maa Anandmayee Memorial School (MAMS), Raiwala on Friday, 19.07.2019.

A total of 117 students from Play Group and classes L-KG and U-KG were screened at the camp. Ms. Kanchan Rajput, the optometrist from NEI screened each student for visual acuity and refractive errors.

A total of 13 students were identified for further ophthalmic interventions and were, accordingly, referred to NEI.

The Management and Staff of MAMS expressed their gratitude to the team from NEI for conducting the said camp.

National Doctors’ Day was observed at NEI on Monday, 01.07.2019. A get-together was organized on this occasion at the NEI Recreation Centre. At the function, the Management appreciated the relentless services being rendered by the Institute’s doctors and observed that their dedication was instrumental in NEI’s Mission of serving humanity.

Nirmal Ashram Eye Institute (NEI), Rishikesh and 302 Light Regiment, Raiwala jointly organized an eye screening camp in the premises of Military Station, Raiwala on 06/04/2019.

The camp was jointly inaugurated by Mrs. Shabnam Rana, First lady of 302 Light Regiment and Dr. Bhupinderpal Kaur, Ophthalmologist from NEI.

The wives and children of JCOs, NCOs and ORs of the Regiment were screened by the Ophthalmologist and Optometrists from NEI for visual acuity and ophthalmic disorders like Cataract and Pterygium.

A total of 85 ladies and children underwent eye examination, of whom, 15 were referred to NEI for further investigation.

The CO and First Lady of the Regiment thanked NEI for organizing the said camp and professed the need for long term, mutually beneficial association between the two Institutions.

An extension centre of Nirmal Ashram Eye Institute, Rishikesh was inaugurated on 15 February, 2019 at Najibabad. Called Nirmal Eye Clinic, the said centre has been established in the premises of Krishna Nursing Home, the leading paediatric facility at Najibabad.

Nirmal Eye Clinic was inaugurated, with the eternal blessings of His Holiness Mahant Ram Singh Ji Maharaj, by Sant Jodh Singh Ji Maharaj, Secretary General of Nirmal Ashram, Rishikesh. The occasion was graced by Sant Ashokanand Ji of Anand Dham, Najibabad and Sant Girishinand Ji of Bhagirathi Dham, Haridwar.

The clinic has been established at Najibabad with the intent to provide affordable, quality eye care to residents of district Bijnor and other nearby areas of Uttar Pradesh. The clinic is replete with state-of-the-art equipment and a qualified Ophthalmologist is stationed to investigate, diagnose and advise patients on cataract, glaucoma, squint and other ophthalmic disorders.

Nirmal Ashram Eye Institute (NEI), Rishikesh has won the Sustained Performance Excellence Award under the Star Icon Performance Excellence Recognitions 2018, awarded under the aegis of the Confederation of Indian Industry – Institute of Quality (CII-IQ).

The Award was bestowed on NEI at the National Quality Summit 2018 held at the Taj, Bangalore 27^th September, 2018. The trophy was awarded by Mr. L. Krishnan, Past Chairman, CII, Karnataka and Managing Director, Taegu Tec India Pvt. Ltd. And Mr. Vipin Sahni, Executive Director, CII – IQ. Dr. Asif Khan, Medical Superintendent and Mr. Pratish Srivastav, Senior Manager, Liaison accepted the trophy on behalf of NEI.

It is worthwhile to mention here that NEI had, in 2017, been awarded the Significant Progress in Performance Excellence Award by CII-IQ and this year the Institute was conferred the highest honour in the Star Icon Performance Excellence Recognitions.

The Management of NEI has dedicated the Award to the hard work and diligence of the Institute’s, doctors and staff.

33^rd National Eye Donation Fortnight, 2018 Observed at NEI

To increase awareness about significance of Eye Donation, the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI) organized the 33^rd National Eye Donation Fortnight between 25^th August and 8^th September, 2018.

With the blessings and inspiration of Mahant Baba Ram Singh Ji Maharaj and Sant Baba Jodh Singh Ji Maharaj (Secretary), of Nirmal Ashram, Rishikesh and with the guidance of Shri Atam Parkash Kochhar (Babuji), under the aegis of the aforementioned Programme, Nirmal Ashram Eye Institute (NEI), Nepali Farm, Rishikesh, organized Eye Donation Awareness Presentations, using audio-visual tools, at Nirmal Ashram Deepmala Public School, Shyampur, Rishikesh, Rita Inter College, Garhi Maychak, Rishikesh and Uttaranchal Dental and Medical Research Centre, Mazri Grant, Doiwala. The main purpose of these events was to sensitize and motivate young students and staff to ignite, among the masses, a firm resolve to pledge their eyes for donation.

NEI also distributed more than 15,000 pamphlets of eye donation awareness literature through newspapers in Rishikesh, Doiwala, Raiwala, Haridwar / Kankhal, Bijnor and Khatauli

NEI organized a felicitation programme on Saturday, 08 September, 2018 at 11:00 AM, to express gratitude towards the families of people who donated their eyes in the last year, thereby, enabling the blind with sight. Through this function, NEI intended to extend its appreciation to these families’ contribution to the service of humankind. A total of 40 families of eye donors were felicitated by Sant Baba Jodh Singh Ji Maharaj, the Chief Guest, Dr. Ashi Khurana, from C L Gupta Eye Institute, Moradabad and Guest of Honour, Mahant Gurvinder Singh Ji from Moradabad. Also, approximately 40 eye donation awareness volunteers were also honoured at the programme.

Owing to its sustained efforts to further the cause of eye donation awareness, it is worthwhile to mention here that in the recent past, NEI has received eye donation calls, from outside Rishikesh, from Dehradun and Haridwar in Uttarakhand, Bijnor, Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh.

An Open Forum was organized for the entire staff of NEI . The agenda for the same was to felicitate the outstanding contributions of certain employees and departments during the month of March 2018. The gathering was presided over by the CEO of NEI, Ms. Mandakini Pawar who highlighted the hard work of those chosen to be felicitated and handed over certificates to them.

The agenda for the same was to felicitate the outstanding contributions of certain employees and departments during the month of January 2018.
